Uses in brief
Used
as an elastic interlayer like a spring in civil engineering and
machinery applications.
Overview
 Sylomer
is used in its cellular or compact form for many applications in
civil engineering and machinery. In most of them, it is used as
an elastic interlayer like a spring. The characteristics of this
spring can be adapted to the need of the application and of the
construction, or the construction method by selecting the Sylomer
type, the thickness and the loaded surface area.
Construction
Sylomer materials are produced in a continuous process. They are
available as strips up to 1.5m wide and are therefore especially
suitable for elastic coverings with large surface area. Further,
stamped or molded parts of Sylomer are available for special applications.
The standard types include Sylomer materials with densities of
150 -680 kg/m³.
For special applications, separate types are fabricated with specifically
adapted density or cross linking, as well as the compact material.
Benefits/performance
The
fine cellular structure allows for the necessary deflection when
loaded statically or dynamically, so that elastic bearings with
full surface contact and low power transmission density become possible.
This is a big advantage concerning construction, design and economy,
especially in civil engineering.
